While reliving some Erstad arguments from the old stomping grounds, I came across the original Erstad to the Sox topic.

3 minor leaguers? I wonder who they were. at the red.

What are some others? Don't have to be exclusive to the SOX.

That Nomar/Magglio/ARod trade was pretty brutal

I never knew Erstad had that good of a year in 2000. He's the Nebraska baseball head coach right now.

Didn't KW have a deal in place for Miguel Cabrera, before Detroit came in at the last minute with a better offer? Or was that just a rumor

Nomar/Magglio trade was when I first started posting on WSI. Fall of 2003.

I remember people holding that nixed Erstad trade AGAINST Kenny Williams back in the day. Prior to 2005, Sox fans (and by Sox fans, I mean the average poster at that other site) hated him.

Wasn't there almost a Konerko for Ponson deal back in 2003?

I think so. Baltimore really wanted him and offered more money and more years than Kenny could afford.

    But then:

Not a trade but Ron Schueler passed on Roger Clemens and instead picked up Jaime Navarro.

Didn't Frank say he wanted Joey Belle instead of Barry Lamar?

And Doug Drabek and Danny Darwin, so he had that going for him.

When I saw the thread title, the first thing that came to mind was Garland for Erstad. That thing was a done deal. ESPN has it on the bottom line and everything. I remember one of the prospects that would have gone to Anaheim was Edwin Almonte.

Erstad won a championship in 02.
    Garland in 05.

We should have never traded Brandon Allen.

We should have gotten a much better player back than Tony Pena because Brandon Allen was a pretty highly regarded prospect at the time, IIRC.

Pretty much everybody in the league thought he was done as a dominant pitcher, little did we know he would have that great second wind that he did

He's currently on trial for the second time as a result of that "second wind."
