terrible, this whole thing
Wait, Curie is good at basketball now? It used to be some faggy arts school.
Well... about that.
How does your GPA fall below a 2.0 in an inner city CPS school when you are on the basketball team? One of the best in the nation. Massive fuck up somewhere because you know these kids aren't actually earning the grades one way or the other as its notorious how ill prepared they are for college
Well, along the lines of what I said, this isn't some stereotypical inner-city (aka all-black neighborhood) traditional basketball powerhouse school like King used to be. It's on Archer and Pulaski, and presumably still has a bunch of teachers and administrators who aren't interested in giving fake grades to sports stars.
I used to go to a chinese buffet over by der during my 1st job.
Curie lost tonight. Cliff had his folks throw a coat over his head.
The block remains hot!
Greer is a player. Hope this doesn't derail his long-term career.
Any relation to depaul all time great Quemont Greer?
working MHSAA quarterfinals tonight, Tom Crean will be in the house (doesn't have any postseason games to worry about!
assuming he'll be watching this guy:
$120 cash for 4 hours of extra work
Man, this game. Brunson with 50 and Jah with 33. Still 0:42 left!
Pucks title was in at the gym last night. Apparently they can go to review, and they allowed GBN to get within 1 with under a minute left on what looked like a clear high stick over the bar.
Or maybe they still play shoulder height? Ehh...fuck it.
Simeon about to lose to Normal Community.
My Hillcrest Hawks lost tonight.
You went to Hillcrest?
WTF is Simeon doing playing that far downstate before the actual state tournament? I don't really pay attn to high school basketball anymore, but that seems odd.
No Brunson rematch. That's fine, he can drop 55 on everyone else.
I went to Bremen, however, one of my best friends is the assistant coach and the head coach is a solid dude.
Oh right, I knew that.
That's cool, though.
Anyone else going this weekend?
Think this is the first time I ever looked at this thread. So this a bonafide high school holla, eh?
Seems odd for adults to care about the sporting achievements of 17 year old kids.
I'm just here for the cheerleaders and bumper magnets.
Yeah, why watch tomorrow's stars today? Worst day of my life was watching Rose destroy Oak Hill all by himself. What a waste of an evening that was.
That Oak Hill team produced 1 NBA draft pick. You watched Rose destroy a bunch of guys that were hyped up in high school but ultimately became nobodies. The great Rose vs Nolan Smith battle!
Took a 5 second Google search of "Oak Hill NBA draft picks"
Never share what you enjoy with anybody.
Because Bevi knew that'd be the case at the time.
Following high school sports to root for your alma mater is strange, sure, but I don't see what's so weird with wanting to check out pro prospects early.
Exactly. Plus Oak Hill was #1 in the country at the time with guys like Legion, Jennings and the aforementioned Smith, so Chae's argument is gay.
I like paying $10 to maybe see a future NBA star. I'm not obsessed over my alma mater or anything like that but I've personally seen guys like Rose, Anthony Davis, Jabari Parker over the last 5-10 years going to various games, showcases or going to Peoria for the state finals.
At the time, obviously not but then it doesn't make sense to bring up now as some past significant sporting event. I'm also just burnt out by hyping up teenagers. I see it in soccer all the time, people tracking U17 teams when maybe a couple players on those teams ever do anything of note as a pro.
I feel enough going to my nephew's HS football games..
It was, essentially, the game that put Rose on the map nationally. He almost had a triple-double. It was an incredible performance.
Do you really not enjoy seeing someone like Jalen Brunson play? He put up 50 against Young and Okafor last year. That doesn't do anything for you on any level as a basketball fan?
I saw some IHSA title game over the past weekend for a few minutes but it was Class 2A so it was obviously shitty and not entertaining. I might catch a little bit of a game with a big name recruit if I came across it while flipping through channels but that's about it.
I'm not sure where Brunson will end up projecting, but if you figure between Rose, Turner, Davis, Jabari, Cliff, and Okafor - that's a lot of talent to come out of this area. From a fan's perspective I don't see how you can't enjoy following it.
Why does this thread exist?
He's going to be an absolute monster at Nova.
How does Nova come in and get the top player in Chicago?
