    6.) Jordan Stephens
    7.) Trey Michalczewski

You can't "go for it" with a system like this. The #10 guy isn't even an actual prospect. It's long past time to rebuild.

Our #10 prospect had a 659 OPS in AAA during his age 23 season

Says how shitty our farm was before because 5 players are from the 2016 draft

Literally never heard of any of the players in the bottom 5. And does that mean we've officially given up on Courtney Hawkins?

Fisher and Call were drafted somewhere around round 3 to 5 in this years draft. They are decent prospects. Hawkins is the new Jared Mitchell

Poor Jared Mitchell. He'll take over for KW soon though.

Given the sheer organizational depth at this point and their positive track record of developing pitching prospects, the rotation and bullpen should be fucking loaded with cost-controlled guys who throw 95+ MPH by 2019. (Hell, they should be rolling deep in 2018 or perhaps even in the second half of 2017.) But I can only identify 3 position players who probably will be in the starting lineup at that time. They'd be lucky if 1 current OF prospect and 1 other IF prospect become regular contributors, so that leaves 4-6 other slots to fill.

Impatiently :waiting: to see what they get in return for Quintana, Cabrera, Abreu, Frazier, Robertson, Jones, etc.

I mentioned "waves" of prospects in another thread, so perhaps it would be useful to see where the guys on the fangraphs list fit in right now. ETAs are just guidelines. Most of these guys will not be great MLB players and several are struggling in MiLB this year.

    Rank - Name - Position - Level - ETA
    1 - Yoan Moncada - 2B - AAA - 2017
    2 - Lucas Giolito - RHP - AAA - 2017
    3 - Michael Kopech - RHP - AA - 2018
    4 - Reynaldo Lopez - RHP - AAA - 2017
    5 - Zack Collins - C - High A - 2019
    6 - Carson Fulmer - RHP - AAA - 2017 (as a reliever)
    7 - Zack Burdi - RHP - AAA - 2017 (if healthy)
    8 - Alec Hansen - RHP - High A - 2018/19
    9 - Spencer Adams - RHP - AA - 2018/19
    10 - Dane Dunning - RHP - High A - 2018/19
    11 - Luis Alexander Basabe - CF - High A - 2020
    12 - Jordan Stephens - RHP - AA - 2018/19
13 - Charlie Tilson - CF - DL - nonprospect due to injuries
    14 - Jameson Fisher - OF - High A - 2019
    15 - Bernardo Flores - LHP - High A - 2020 (as a reliever)
    16 - Alex Call - OF - DL / rehab assignment - 2019
    17 - Trey Michalczewski - 3B - AA after brief demotion to High A - nonprospect
    18 - Jake Peter - UT - AA - nonprospect
    19 - Luis Martinez - RHP - Low A - 2020
    20 - Adam Engel - 4th OF - MLB
    21 - Luis Curbelo - SS - rookie ball - 2020/21
22 - Jacob May - CF - AAA after demotion from MLB - nonprospect
23 - Michael Ynoa - RHP - AAA after demotion from MLB
    24 - Brian Clark - LHP - AAA - 2018
    25 - Jordan Guerrero - LHP - AA - 2018/19
    26 - Chris Beck - RHP - MLB
27 - Tyler Danish - RHP - AAA after demotion from MLB

    Other notables
    Seby Zavala - C - High A - 2020
    Evan Skoug - C - rookie ball - 2020
    Nick Delmonico - 1B - AAA - 2017
    Gavin Sheets - 1B - Low A - 2020
    Jake Burger - 3B - Low A - 2019/20
    Micker Adolfo - RF - Low A - 2020/21
    Luis Robert - OF - rookie ball - 2020

There are a bunch of really interesting Latin IFs in rookie ball, but they're just teenagers even younger than Curbello, which puts their ETA at 2021+.

So, as a practical matter, the waves look something like this:

    MLB Ready
    Delmonico - 1B
    Moncada - 2B
    Giolito - SP
    Lopez - SP
    Fulmer - RP
    Burdi - RP

    2018/19
    Collins - C
    Burger - 3B
    Fisher - OF
    Call - OF
    Kopech - SP
    Hansen - SP
    Adams - SP
    Dunning - SP
    Stephens - SP
    Guerrero - SP
    Clark - RP

    2020/21
    Zavala - C
    Skoug - C
    Sheets - 1B
    Curbelo - SS
    Basabe - CF
    Adolfo - RF
    Robert - OF
    Flores - RP
    Martinez - RP

The pre-2020 group is very pitcher heavy, so I assume Hahn is looking to add position players during the hot stove.

Sox also have guys I like to call 'interesting fringe' prospects. Guys that were not drafted high, therefore overlooked but are producing or recently produced in the minors. (and aren't old- like Hawk thinking a 32 year old Dan Johnson hitting 30 HRs in Charlotte means anything)

Joel Booker (22nd round 2016) currently a CF in A+ and not doing good (469 OPS in 16 games) but before his promotion in 65 games at A ball hit 312/374/400. He has plus speed. He will turn 24 before next season.

Danny Mendick (22nd round 2015) who turns 24 at the end of the season, in A+ with 295/379/478. Currently splits time at 2B/SS/3B. He supposedly has the glove to stick at SS in the MLB level.

Mitch Roman (12th round 2015) Right now is struggling at A but had a .810 OPS last year in Rookie ball. Plays 2B/SS. If he can eventually play at a MLB level at those positions, could be an asset in the future.

I saw all of those guys play last week. This is why they're not more highly regarded:

Booker is terrible in CF and old for A ball. If he doesn't have a great offensive year in AA next year (which seems unlikely), he's a nonprospect. As its stands, he might lose PT when Call comes off of the DL.

Mendick and Roman are 4' tall. MLB players their size are extreme outliers. College players all should be expected to rake in rookie ball, which is filled with 18 and 19 YO kids, and worse pitching than they faced in college.

I can actually see Mendick becoming a successful MLB utility player because of his glove, but the Sox obviously are not high on him. He was forced to bat 9th for much of the year and is still languishing at A ball despite great success at that level, his advanced age, and nobody blocking his path to AA.

Also keep an eye out for 3B Justin Yurchak. Drafted 12th round this year, but Sox gave him over slot money. Doing well in rookie ball so far, he came from a smaller school- SUNY Binghampton and has a 343/421/463 line. His best tool is his hit tool.

Hahn has done just that with some smaller moves left to make, and Moncada was promoted. Updated "waves" list:

    2017
    Delmonico - 1B
    Lopez - SP
    Giolito - SP
    Fulmer - RP

    2018/19
    Collins - C
    Yrizarri - SS
    Burger - 3B
    Polo - OF
    Fisher - OF
    Call - OF
    Kopech - SP
    Hansen - SP
    Adams - SP
    Dunning - SP
    Stephens - SP
    Guerrero - SP
    Bummer - RP
    Burdi - RP (after rehabbing)
    Clark - RP

    2020/21
    Skoug - C
    Zavala - C
    Abbott - 1B
    Sheets - 1B
    Curbelo - SS
    Adolfo - RF
    Basabe - CF
    Jimenez - OF
    Robert - OF
    Rutherford - OF
    Cease - SP
    Clarkin - SP
    Flores - RP
    Martinez - RP
    2018 draft picks

Plus a bunch of RP and IF who already are with the organization but will emerge in the next couple of years.

Half these guys will bust, but they have sooo much org depth now that it doesn't matter. For example, there's zero pressure on that marginal OF wave of Polo / Fisher / Call / Booker, because the group right behind them is WAY stronger. Like crazy fucking strong. The 1B group isn't great, but that doesn't matter because you can just slide an OF or 3B over. Also, by 2020, they'll have massive "cap space" and probably a surplus of pitching to trade.

    Team is gonna be HUGE.

Seen a few lists that now rate the SOX as the #1 farm system in baseball. Hahn mostly undid all of KW's gay gentlemenry in less than 5 trades.

Depth has always been a problem since KW would ship them out at the first sight of one of his past-their-prime crushes becoming available. NOT ANYMORE

And just think, we'd have another top 25 prospect in Tatis Jr. if it wasn't for the Shields deal. And he wondered why he was being booed at 56 Day.
