I want Jamal Adams, S, LSU
From a couple other things I've read, internet PI's have concluded it is either Malik Hooker (S, tOSU), Charles Harris (DE, Mizzou), or Buddha Baker (S, Washington). Which means either Hooker or Harris, because Baker isn't a first rounder.
Can we get a Prope mock draft?
#3: Jamal Adams, S, LSU
#36: Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss
#67: Davis Webb, QB, Cal
#111: Julie'n Davenport, OT, Bucknell
#117: Deatrich Wise, DE, Arkansas
#147: Kenny Golladay, WR, NIU
#221: DJ Jones, DT, Ole Miss
Blame the mother.
Need to take a CB in there somewhere.
Cam Sutton from Tennessee is a very popular 4th-5th round pick.
I think in terms of the first round, I'd rather trade back. I'm still not sold on taking a safety at 3.
Adams is being compared to some of the top safeties already in the league, and a future Hall of Famer. Most, if not all, scouts are saying he is an immediate, Day 1 difference maker for any team that drafts him. Beyond that, the Bears have not had an impact player at safety since Mike Brown. Adams also comes to camp the first day with no history of injury, something Allen, Hooker, or Lattimore can't say.
I'm assuming you're also not sold on taking a safety at 3, because there are some arbitrary rules about positional value. If you want to trade back for more picks, totally fine, but to not draft Adams because, "you don't draft a safety in the top 5," is a dumb reason, imo.
I feel like you could drop back a couple of spots and still get Allen or Hooker, and add a pick to address say CB or TE.
There are so many holes that getting more picks makes more sense to me.
I don't think Adams will make it past Tennessee at 5. Hooker I could see getting later (depending on what you feel about his medical issues), but I don't think he's going any later than #10. I just personally think Adams is going to be a very special player, for a number of years, at a position that seems important for Fanio's defense.
I also wouldn't be shocked if they traded back into the first round for a QB.
Adams at 3 and then trade back in to the first for Mahomes.
Popular comp for Mahomes: Jay Cutler
I can totally see that
Adam Schefter is tweeting/reporting/saying that Mitchell Trubisky is the #1 pick. If so, that means Myles Garrett is in play, because SF apparently loves my guy Adams.
The biggest Bears rumor that I've seen currently is the Browns trading #12, #33, another second, and a 4th rounder to the Bears for #3. That would give the Bears 8 of the top 117 picks.
What is this other 2nd rounder?
Also at this point I'd rather keep the 3rd pick. We need an impact player
Total pipe dream meatball rumor. No way the heavy analytic browns trade that many picks to move up.
#52, but sycked is right, and you are right as well.
The Browns might be able to get Trubisky with the 12th anyway. Who else could likely take him, the Jets?
The 49ers, Bears, Jaguars, Jets, Chargers, Bills, and Saints could use their picks on a guy like Trubisky if he's not drafted #1. The Browns are also reportedly interested in Derrick Barnett from Tennessee. The issue is that they probably don't see that big of a talent drop from Garrett to Barnett, whereas they, and most importantly the 7 teams picking ahead of them at #12, probably see a greater drop-off from Trubisky to say, Mahomes or Watson.
Cleveland coworker now on all the Mitch Trubisky rumors:
I'd trade down if Garrett is not available. If he is, you have to take him, right?
He doesn't like him?
Nope. Says he started only one year and feels like he's got "Ohio loser" written all over him. He's in love with Garrett.
I'm big on Adams, but much of that is assuming Garrett was never available. Pairing him with Floyd could be something special. Unless Pace is sold on one of the QBs at #3, or someone is trading up and you can get more picks, then yeah, I think you spring to the podium for Garrett.
I'd have to imagine the 49ers would trade back to somebody who wanted Garrett before we'd get a shot at him.
Either way, it seems like either one of Garrett or Adams will be available. Still think taking a safety at 3 is crazy, but the Bears should end up with a high quality player.
The only bad move would be taking a QB at 3, IMO, especially if Trubisky is gone.
Are the top 3 QBs Trubisky, Kizer and Watson?
Adams is an immediate impact player, who apparently has the tangibles that coaches like, and can be a leader of that defense for many years. With tight ends becoming more and more athletic, and being featured in offenses more, having a safety that can cover them is that much more important. Seattle's defense is a completely different one when Thomas and Chancellor aren't playing.
The game is evolving, and this notion that you can't take a safety that high is silly when you look at the player in question.
And I really think you're underrating Watson.
Depends on who you ask, but a consensus would be:
I would stay the hell away from Kizer
Pick a DL or trade down.
I think Kizer is going to be a very mediocre NFL QB.
Is that based on the one half of ND football you watched this year?
Goddell is getting a very loving reception.
Big, BIG, David Shaw fan.
Bears trade up. Da fuq?
I don't understand doing that.
I guess it's Solomon Thomas.
Holy shit they gave up a fuck ton.
To move up 1 spot?
They gave up a lot for one spot. I don't like it.
